Adam Lopez & Eric Guajardo both advanced to the State JO Tournament in Ft. Worth, Texas next
month. Guajardo advanced by being unopposed in the Intermediate (13-14 154lbs) division. Lopez
earned his ticket into the JO finals by dismantling John Benepe of Corpus Christi in 26 seconds of the
first round on the first night of competition. Lopez earned a trip to the finals vs Isaac Cantera, Angels
Boxing Club of San Antonio with the victory. Lopez & Cantera both produced a high action bout
throwing punches non-stop in all three rounds. Lopez power punching early in the rounds made
Cantera slow down a bit in the final round and helped him score the 5-0 decision. For his efforts, Lopez
was named the

Richard Soto vs George Flores, Atasscosa BC. - After a rough start Flores came bouncing back with a
strong 2nd round. Soto allowed Flores to control the pace and had him against the ropes for most of the 2nd round.
After a wakeup call between rounds Soto decided to step up the pace and started landing a barrage of punches to
start the 3rd. Soto had Flores hurt in the final round but was unable to finish him off. Soto will once again be in
action this coming week in Eagle Pass.

Luis Nino vs Sebastian Rodriguez, Atasscosa BC. - Nino never allowed Rodriguez to set his feet and easily
outboxed him in all 3 rounds. Rodriguez showed determination by pressing the action in all three rounds, never
hanging up the white flag. Nino was able to score the victory by using his reach advantage landing solid left jabs &
sidestepping with 3 & 4 punch combinations.

Jairo Martinez vs Eric Morin, Zarzamora Street Gym. - Martinez & Morin both stayed aggressive in all 3
rounds making it for an exciting and close bout. Martinez was awarded a 2-1 decision over Morin.

Cresencio Ramos vs Michael Baladez, Austin, TX.  - Ramos did what he was supposed to and still lost the
decision. He received a caution for hitting behind the head. In such a competitive bout it might have been the
deciding factor.

Worth.

Without Coach Valdez Vela would have not been able to attend  the tournament. THANKS AGAIN
